Updating Learning Units

When a curriculum comes into operation, it is vital to timely monitor the learning achievements that are being generated through the delivery of learning units and ensure that it remains current by implementing monitoring strategies and updating learning units.

It can begin with processes of updating learning units with different levels of depth and temporality. A first level can occur one or two cycles after it has been taught, where the updating of the learning units does not exceed 50% of a change in the elements that make up the learning unit program and which, for example, is done to keep references or content current). This level of updating does not require registration from the Teaching and Research Support Departments (DADI).

A second level, in the case of mandatory learning units, occurs when four cycles have been taught, and in electives as soon as needs, demands or advances in the profession are identified. This deeper update process implies that it is required to modify more than 50% or the equivalent of the settings of at least 5 of its component elements (II. Purpose, III. Evidence of learning, IV. Thematic units [competition and content], IV. Structure of practices [when applicable], VII. Method, VIII. Evaluation criteria and IX. References). This process is registered and must be accompanied by the DADI team.

In either upgrade level, you cannot change your name, password, credit characteristics, map location, and general competition.

Updating is a process of reviewing and modify the content, the structure and the resources of a learning unit to ensure that they are aligned with the trends and advances in the corresponding discipline. The criteria and procedure described below apply to the second level of updating described in the introductory section.

Learning unit update criteria:

a) Items to update. An update is considered when more than 50% change or the equivalent of adjustments to at least 5 of its component elements are carried out in the Learning Unit Program (Purpose, Evidence of learning, Thematic units [competence and content], Structure of practices [when applicable], Method, Evaluation Criteria and References). Note: Name, password, credit characteristics, map location and general competition cannot be updated.

b) Justification. The update is derived from a work of reflection on the advancement of the discipline, therefore it is important to consider the expressions of the teaching staff in the E-PUA System, the analysis of the profession in terms of trends, scientific and technological advances, as well as expressions of graduates and employing entities that academic units document periodically.

c) Organization. Updating is an initiative of the academic units and collegiate work must be privileged. In elective learning units offered in an academic unit, at least two academics must participate. In the approved study plans, the participation of at least one member of the teaching staff per academic unit is expected. The person responsible for the educational program establishes communication with their counterparts, and they are the ones who make up and coordinate the updating team, in addition to being the liaison with the DADI.

d) Authorship. The work in the processes of creating or modifying study plans must be recognized, therefore, the names of the team that designed the PUA and the person in charge of the subdirectorate, who approved it, are maintained on the PUA cover (without signatures). On the second sheet, the name and signature of the teaching team participating in the updating of the learning unit and the person in charge of the subdirectorate in the academic unit are placed. In approved learning units you can choose the digital signature of these same people.

e) Temporality. The updating of mandatory learning units occurs when four cycles have been taught, and in electives as soon as needs, demands or advances in the profession are identified.
