Consolidate a comprehensive and relevant educational program that guides the planning, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of professional training in biotechnology applied to aquaculture, and that promotes academic, scientific and technological excellence, with an interdisciplinary and sustainable approach. This program aims to train competent professionals to design, develop, manage and innovate aquaculture processes and projects in the productive, biotechnological, health and business fields, which contribute to food security, resilience to climate change and the responsible use of aquatic resources. It also seeks to strengthen applied research, knowledge transfer, the blue economy, and links with the social, public, and private sectors.

To contribute to solving national problems in the production of high-quality food, through the development of biotechnology in aquaculture.

1

Strengthen the scientific and technological capacity of students to design, adapt and implement efficient and sustainable aquaculture farming systems through the use of advanced design and biotechnological tools in nutrition, genetics, reproduction and physiology of aquatic organisms, which contribute to the production of high-quality, safe and sustainable food that responds to national needs.

2

Develop specialized skills in comprehensive aquaculture health that allow the prevention, diagnosis and management of diseases in aquatic organisms through the application of molecular, histological, physiological, immunological, microbiological, parasitological and pharmacological techniques, as well as the implementation of good practice, biosecurity and safety programs in production systems, in accordance with national and international regulations and under principles of animal welfare and environmental responsibility.

3

Strengthen the analytical and strategic capacities of students for decision-making in the management of sustainable aquaculture systems and projects, through the application of planning, technical, economic and environmental evaluation tools, as well as governance, circular economy and risk management models, which optimize production processes, increase organizational efficiency and contribute to the comprehensive sustainability of the aquaculture sector.

4

Promote applied research, innovation and technology transfer in aquaculture biotechnology, which promotes inter-institutional collaboration, links with the productive, public and social sectors, and the use of emerging technologies (biotechnology, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics and automation) to solve real problems of the aquaculture sector and strengthen its competitiveness and resilience to climate change.

5

To actively contribute to food security, the development of the blue economy and the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), through the comprehensive training of professionals with ethics, leadership, critical thinking and social commitment, capable of influencing the responsible transformation of the aquaculture sector at a regional and national scale.
